WIAW With A Goal

I don’t even need to tell you what day it is….

WIAW, of course, brought to you by the lovely Jen of Peas and Crayons.

I am pretty boring when it comes to WIAW because I don’t photograph a lot of my food, nor am I good at varying my menus, but I do have a new, or at least new to me, product to share that is totally delicious, and pretty darn convenient for a mid-afternoon snack attack.

So let’s get to it!

I expressed to you last week my love of popcorn.

I almost always have the mini bags in our pantry for when my stomach is in need of a snack, so when I saw this at Trader Joes, how could I resist?

This has probably been out forever and I just didn’t notice it, but oh my goodness is it yummy.

Sweet, salty and just enough crunch to satisfy all my cravings at once. If you have not tried this before, pick it up ASAP.

Don’t you just love Trader Joes?

I know that’s a pretty pathetic showing for WIAW, but hopefully next week will be better.

One thing I did notice after looking back at a few of my mid-week posts was that I am very reliant on packaged foods.

I have posted about this before, but packaged foods can sometimes be more comfortable to me because they have a label, a portion size, a numerical value, and those are the things that I needed to feel like I am more accurately aware of my daily caloric intake.

When Ryan took away my food scale, certain proteins, potatoes, even some fruit, all went out the window.

I still enjoy(ed) my greens and lots of non-starchy veggies, but otherwise unless I could measure it, it wasn’t going in my mouth.

I have started to run into this problem again, which I partially blame on my negative voice being so strong and an immense desire for control, but it isn’t the habit I want to get into.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with packaged foods. There isn’t anything wrong with any food consumed in moderation, but my body definitely felt better when I was consuming a nice yam instead of Special K Cracker Chips.

So since I told you the other day that I don’t really believe in New Year’s resolutions, I am going to set a goal for the week, which will hopefully then continue, to incorporate more whole foods into my diet; perhaps to be more specific, replace two items I would normally have something from a package, to a natural product.

Who knows…maybe this could even help give me some material for a much better WIAW next week!

P.S. May I just include something I WISH I was eating today…

As if I didn’t love Chobani enough already, now they add these fabulous new flavors.

I am on a serious mission to find me some of this….

I hear Target might be a good place to look…

  1. I honestly think WIAW is really weird! But I like the way you do it, not showing us each thing you ate but sharing new products with us.

Making a goal to eat more whole foods is a good goal. I fall into the same rut myself. I also think making weekly goals in the new year is a great idea!
