Sweaty Sunday

That title may be the understatement of the century.  Oh my gosh sitting at an afternoon game, directly in the sun, surrounded by thousands of enthusiastic Phils fans makes for quite a sweaty sunday.  But regardless of the heat, we had a great time with our friends, the home team won, and there were some really good plays.

We actually started our day relatively early and headed to the 9th Street Italian Market.  If anyone has time during the HLS this is definitely an experience.  Fruit and vegetable vendors line the side-walk but the highlights are…

The Bakery

Di Bruno Brothers

And aside from these two famous stops there were also independent sellers with these…

Like I said, if you are ever in the neighborhood, check out the 9th Street Italian Market.  It is definitely an experience with some really friendly people and some seriously tasty treats.

Before we knew it, it was time to meet another friend at the ballpark.  After grabbing some quick snacks and loading up the cooler we parked and did a mini-tailgate.  One of the best things about Citizens Bank Park is they allow each person to bring in a soft cooler filled with anything that is UNOPEN.  This was perfect for today because we packed a ton of water and Powerade to avoid paying the $4.25 per drink!  But of course the guys could spring for a few beers!  We headed to our seats and had an awesome, but very hot 9 innings…

And now it is 8:30 and I am exhausted from the sun.  As pathetic as this sounds Ry and I are about to plop on the couch, flip on an episode of the Tudors and probably go to bed!  I look forward to catching up on everyone’s blog in the AM!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

What did you do to beat the heat?!

  1. Looks like you had some great seats for the game! I’m sure all that water and Powerade came in handy, it was definitely a hot one out there. We stayed inside most of the weekend : )
